where i live, things to eat.

My roommate Sarah and 'niece' Luisana
This is the street I live one.

This is the building I live in.
tons of buildings!

This is Venezuela's national tree. You can't really tell but the flowers are neon yellow.
This is inside our complex. It looked sort of sketchy, however everything is really nice inside. Myself and two other girls live within this complex, in the same building. I guess they place girls here because its close to downtown, a twenty-five minute walk to school and really safe? I like it so far.
Arepa filled with delicious scrambled eggs and a cup of coffee.

. Watermelon juice. Rice. Chicken with herbs and olives and potatoes, and some sort of venezuelan lasagna with lettuce and ham and cheese? The lasagna was really weird but tasty.
Home made arepa with cheese and ham I think...

Plantains, salad, beef. This whole eating meat at every meal thing will be difficult for me to get used to. I don't love meat, but its still all really good. Especially in comparison to what I hear other students are eating: mounds of plantains for breakfast, areapas for every meal, fried food for every meal, no fruits or veggies...
Laundry room off the kitchen. We aren't allowed to do laundry here; I think someone flooded the kitchen in years prior. Instead we walk a block or two and drop our clothes off at a laundromat. We pay someone 2-3 US dollars and receive everything clean and folded a few hours later.

Living room

Bacon puffs. These are the texture of funyons but instead of onion flavor they have bacon flavor. I can't decide if I love or hate them.

This was a mistake.

We tried to buy cheese and crackers and failed. Turns out cheese is way different here.
beer

sangria

roasted beans, roasted corn. lump of sweetness sugar treat---made out of sugar fiber from sugar cane.

We juiced sugar cane at an organic farm. It was delicious but extremely sweet.

I don't remember the name of this fruit... it tasted like a sour patch kid gummy bear.

yes, this happened.
